Cranberry Apple Sauce

Cranberries are in season. Give this recipe a try sometime this week as you may want to consider incorporating into your Thanksgiving feast.

You'll Need:
  • 6 medium apples peeled, cut into small pieces (Braeburn, Rome, Fugi)
  • 12 ounces fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup sugar (less for more tart taste)
  • 2 Tablespoons apple juice or other fruit juice

  • Place apples and cranberries in food processor and pulse several times to chop.
  • Add sugar and juice; process until pureed.
  • Refrigerate 3 hours before serving.

REALLY??? One cup of sugar? Are there no alternatives that could be used, such as maple syrup or coconut syrup?

This is the recipe that was in its original state. I for sure would use a lot less sugar. And still then when I consume the dish I would control the portion size as a little bit of cranberry sauce goes a long way. So in the end the amount sugar consumed is controlled.

Now you could try an alternative form of sweetener. If you do please share what you thought as I am sure the flavor may change a bit but you might find a combination that tastes delicious.
